NES on Avatar at Pacific Pinball Museum

January 6, 2011

If you live in the Bay Area and wonder “who the heck is this NES guy?!” whose initials are on just about every pinball machine, well, this is the guy.

Neil’s strategy seems to be to go for Link multiball at every opportunity and then he stacks other modes and multiballs on top of it.  As drainy as the new style of STERNs can be, two or more balls is always better than one.

Neil has been playing rock solid lately, winning the EM Division at California Extreme, The San Francisco Avatar Launch Party, The Pacific Pinball Expo Open Division and this tournament, the Pacific Pinball Open.  This recent string of victories took him from around 14th in the world pinball rankings to 5th.

There will be a pinball tournament on January 30th and we typically get a great turnout of some excellent players.  But even if you’re not in Neil’s class, don’t worry, we have a “non-Tommy” division, too!

Oh neat… I really enjoy watching the overhead table shots of play as you can get a great look at how different players control the game. Thanks for posting this and possibly that! :)

I have a video from the Avatar launch party but we didn’t get the DMD in the shot. The main reason I set it up was so that others could watch on the projector. If you are interested, I’ll upload it.

This would be even cooler with one of them fancy overhead cams like in the PAPA vids… ;)
